U Aye Chan (UAC) devoted what little free time he had to educating future generations in finance, a field in which he had specialised overseas. He served as an adjunct lecturer at the Yangon Institute of Economics and National Management College. In addition, he delivered numerous short lectures and seminars for organisations of repute, including the National Defence College.
UAC’s love for the nation and his commitment to national development extended well beyond media and academia. He played a leadership role in the E-Commerce and Digital Economy Association of Myanmar, contributing to key digital initiatives in the country. Among these were his inputs toward the development of Myanmar’s e-commerce laws and regulatory framework. He also represented Myanmar at the United Nations, speaking on the state of e-commerce development in the country, a distinction achieved by very few Myanmar nationals in recent history.
He was subsequently elected by his peers as General Secretary of the Myanmar Media Council, a role through which he helped advance Myanmar’s presence on the global stage. In this capacity, he participated in numerous international forums, summits, and conferences as a speaker and panellist.
When the country faced moments of crisis, UAC consistently stepped forward. One notable example was in 2023, when he facilitated the involvement of a Singapore-based humanitarian aid group to support flood relief efforts in Bago, at a time when international assistance was limited.
